 Leszno is located in Wielkopolska region (western Poland) between two big economic centers: Poznań (up North) and Wrocław (down South). A convenient way to get to Leszno by car is offered by an international route E-261 (national road number 5) linking Poland's northern coast with The Czech Republic. One more national road - 12 Głogów-Jarocin - crosses Leszno from West to East. When traveling from Poznań to Leszno, head for Wrocław whereas going from Wrocław to Leszno, you should head for Poznań respectively.  | Leszno received its municipal rights in 1547. In its heyday in early 17th century Leszno was a town with great cultural, economic and intellectual potential, it was the “capital city” of the Czech Brethren and the centre for Wielkoplska Protestantism and Judaism. Leszno retained its multi-religious character until mid 20th century. From 1975 to 1998 it was a voivodship town.
